Idea: Safebooru radio?
I had this wild idea of having a radio that streams all kinds of anime music and i was wondering if somebody is willing to step up and be our safebooru DJ! I'll host the server so all this person needs is winamp and a plugin and a decent internet so he/she can upstream to my server.

What ya think? Anyone?

Requirements for our DJ:
# PC with more then 1Ghz CPU
# PC has to be on 24/7
# English please :3
# Atleast 128KB/s Internet upload (1 Mbits)
# Anime music! If not just download some.
# Basic knowledge about internet radio is preferred but not necessary.

I think being on 24/7 is a little bit exaggerating. just saying. people has life too ya know? xD

No no, thats not what i mean :D

Our "DJ" will pretty much pick music and a playlist and all he has to do is hit the "play" button and it will go trough his winamp playlist and play music. Only his computer has to stay on.

I'll even be willing to pay for the power cost if thats necessary.

Or i can host everything including the winamp source, but its hard to manage with remote desktop or VNC. I don't mind either.

Dude, I totally meet every single requirement as my computer is never turned off, I have a vast majority of anime and video game related music as well as much jpop and japanese music.

I am already more than able to start hosting immediatly, and the only thing holding me back is the fact that I am not at home to start streaming immediatly.

I would really like you to pick me or use me for say, a specialty show or something and I am more than able to help you out.

Please let me know.

I could also attempt this. My computer certainly isn't always on 24/7 (that would shorten the lifespan of my HDD by a few years)
I have quite a few full length anime OP/ED themes and related music as well as some J-pop and J-rock, and a bunch of tracks straight out of recent Comiket Markets. I download more every other day.

If you need someone for part-time DJ-ing I'll give it a shot. If it's just putting my iTunes on shuffle with a connection to the site then that sounds fine to me.

I have a large supply of anime music myself, and I have my own stream which I operate as well, so, this is certainly something that I am interested in helping out in. Tho, 24/7 is a bit too much for anyone, since there are so many people here willing to help, why not organise a few shifts, ie, a person takes a day each, or whatnot.

Hmm well how would we set this up? There can only be 1 person streaming to the server at the same time.

set up an irc room, or something similar; whoever is broadcasting puts his name in the title. whoever wants to take over can pop in and sort it out with the current broadcaster once the song changes.

Just like the other radio streaming. more DJ's More fun.
But the problem is, we have different timezones.

Having just one DJ could pose a problem in the event that said DJ is unable to perform his duties or change up the playlist.

Having more than one would be beneficial, although it would require a bit more planning/organizing/communication on the part of the DJs. Time zones shouldn't be a major issue. The only problem would be working out when one DJ's playlist is 'done' and the next one's list gets started.

While probably not the most efficient means, what you could do was talk to each other and work out times when you could get onto your computers and start the playlist and how long you plan on the list to be (with extra times, ideally, in the event one DJ is unable to do so). From there, you should be able to work out a schedule.

That's my two cents on the matter. I can't really assist any other way.
