Ah, the first generation of the Nissan Skyline GT-R, in production from 1969-1972. It was given the affectionate name 'Hakosuka', 'hako' meaning box and 'suka' coming from the first two kana from Skyline ([suka]irain). It was produced in both 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe with a total of 1,945 of them made. It is the first of the many impressive successors, but they weren't always that. After this first generation, the second generation in 1973 failed to take off due to the 70s fuel crisis. The GT-R was put on hiatus until 1989, where we would then be treated to impressive successors the first would be proud of.
